Richland Tournament - March 6, 2012

Iron Horse Golf Course

Our boys fought hard through the wind and cold weather on Tuesday. They played well, but the weather conditions and course setup made it one of the most difficult tournaments so far this year. 20-30 mph winds with gusts up to 40 mph. Because Scott Toner did not play, we could not compete as a 4 man team, but we made the best of it. I heard Scott hiked the Canyon today on the senior trip! Fantastic!

Here are the final scores for the tournament.

  • David Toner - 96
  • Callen Clark - 98
  • Daniel Tanner - 105

Some of the winning teams at this tournament all shot in the 80's. This means we are not that far from being able to compete at the next level. One of the best teams at this tournament was Denton Ryan. Ryan is a UIL- 4A school with class sizes in the 500 range. This means the Varsity golf team consists of the best 10 players from a student body of over 2,000! One of those players was in David Toner's foursome. The player from Ryan shot a 92... David Toner was only 4 shots back at 96. With more practice, our team can close the gap and make a run at one of these tournaments. I am encouraged by the heart and determination our team showed today against tough competition.
